Plastic surgeon · Founder
Dr. Handal has practiced plastic surgery in South Florida for more than 35 years. He founded Sanctuary Surgical Centre and oversees its clinical policies and quality program.
He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He completed his general surgery residency at the State University of New York and a fellowship in hand surgery at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut.

For surgeons
A fully staffed operating environment without the scheduling delays of a hospital. Block time and individual cases are available.
Privileges
Request an application from the administrator. We ask for your Florida license, DEA registration, board certification, malpractice certificate and current hospital privileges.
Scheduling
Once credentialed, your office schedules directly with our surgical coordinator.
Provided
Nursing, anesthesia and surgical technologist staffing, instrumentation, supplies, and pre- and post-operative patient calls.
For patients
Your surgeon's office will give you instructions for your procedure. Please follow them. The notes below are general.
Before surgery
- A nurse will call the day before to confirm your arrival time and review your medications.
- Follow your eating and drinking instructions. Surgery may be rescheduled if they are not followed.
- Arrange for an adult to drive you home and stay with you.
On the day
- Bring a photo ID, your insurance card and a list of your medications.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
- Leave jewelry and valuables at home.
After surgery
- You will rest in recovery until you are ready to go home.
- You will receive written instructions and a number to call with questions.
- A nurse will call you the next day.
Costs and billing
For cosmetic procedures, the facility fee is included in the price quoted by your surgeon's office. If you are uninsured or not using insurance, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges.
